Support tickets should close when the customer says so

Every help desk reports resolution numbers the customer would laugh at. We built Resolve so a ticket only closes when the person who raised it confirms the fix.

You have lived this from the customer side. You report a problem, receive a cheerful message that your issue has been resolved, and the problem is sitting right there, unresolved, watching you both.

The metric caused it. When agents are scored on closed tickets, tickets get closed. Whether the problem got fixed is a different question the dashboard never asks.

The honest close

On Resolve, an agent cannot declare victory. They can say we believe this is fixed, and the ticket then waits for the customer to press confirm. No confirmation, no closed ticket. If the customer says it is still broken, it reopens with that history attached.

This one rule changes the culture. Agents stop performing resolution and start pursuing it. The support numbers a founder reads finally mean what they appear to mean.
